La Bordée
This season’s plays are grouped around the common theme of “reflection,” which can be understood at three levels: when particles or vibrations are reflected off an obstacle, when thoughts reflect back on each other as an idea is examined more in depth, and the oral or written result of this thinking.
The characters in the plays express their point of view. They reflect their vision of things, their interpretation of reality, of their reality. These reflections have to do with what is considered normal, true, expected. In watching the plays, we begin to doubt, to question, to reassess. We wonder, who is right?
The photographs by Alex Dozois are full of shadows, inversions, mirror effects, and blurs. They get the audience thinking and give them the freedom to create their own interpretations of the posters. When darker themes are presented, bright yellow adds impact and light, creating a striking contrast with the darker photos.
This perpetual play of mirrors, between true and false, leads to the following conclusion: The plays at La Bordée are as much a reflection of our society as they are thought-provoking.
